Seattle Central is going to present a movie screening of No End In Sight on March 22 at Student Events Center (BE1110) at 11:00 am.

No End In Sight is a jaw-dropping, insider’s tale of wholesale incompetence, recklessness, and venality. Based on over 200 hours of footage, the film provides a candid retelling of the events following the fall of Baghdad in 2003 by high ranking officials, Iraqi civilians, American soldiers, and prominent analysts. No End In Sight examines the manner in which the principal errors of U.S. policy largely created the insurgency and chaos that engulf Iraq today. As we approach the 5th anniversary of the Iraq War, this film provides crucial insights into the U.S. government’s role in this brutal and on-going tragedy.

Phi Theta Kappa Offers A Unique Campus Event of Through Native Eyes:Identity, Perception & Recognition. The event is going to take place on Wednesday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Broadway Performance Hall

This symposium focuses on current issues of Native American health, tribal recognition and culture. Featured speakers include
1. Cecile Hansen, Chairperson of the D’wamish Tribe
2. Kenneth Tollefson, Prof. Emeritus SPU
3. Emma Medicine White Crow, Governor’s Council on Health Disparities
4. Ralph Forquera, MPH, Seattle Indian Health Board
5. Vi Hilbert, Member of the Upper Skagit Tribe

This event is open to the campus and the larger community and might especially be of interest to history, anthropology, social and human services, global health, and academic research students and faculty.

Seattle Central College Activities Board and Anti-war collective will be screening Winter Soldiern, on Thursday in the Student Events Center 6PM.

Winter Soldier Investigation conducted by Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) in Detroit, Michigan in the winter of 1971. A call went out from VVAW to veterans all over the country saying, in effect, ‘everyone is talking about the war that you know from the inside. If you want to have anything to say about it, come to Detroit and tell it like you saw it.’ At the investigation, over 125 veterans representing every major combat unit to see action in Vietnam, gave eye-witness testimony to war crimes and atrocities they either participated in or witnessed. The purpose of the investigation was to bring to light the nature of American military policy in Vietnam.

The Legislative Affairs Committee invites you to come and join us at Seattle Central Community College for the “Importance of Voting Panel” that will take place on March 4, 2008 in the Student Event Center (BE 1110) at 1:00 PM.

They have invited Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels and he will be the keynote speaker before the panel discussion. The panel will consist of Associate Student Council Alumni Sergio Cueva-Flores (Legislative Aide to council member Dow Constantine), Kitty Mahon from the League of Women Voters (Seattle Chapter) and our own Political Science Professor Carl Livingston.

The purpose of the “Importance of Voting Panel” is to educate Seattle Central about civic topics that will encourage students to vote. It would be a day of discussion among faculties, students, and community about the significance of voting in our lives in this critical time in the history of our nation.
